3D tech company Matter and Form is aiming to bring 3D printing to the masses. Shortly after releasing an inexpensive
($520) 3D scanner, it is delivering the $79 Bevel to market later this summer. Bevel is a smartphone attachment which converts ordinary images into “real 3D” photos – what this means is which instead of creating the illusion of 3D by adding depth to a flat image, the Bevel is utilized to pan and scan a man or object, capturing actual 3D measurements.
The resulting 3D image can be utilized in a few ways: only post it online like your other pics or use the resulting file format to put by yourself in an animation, video game or actually 3D print images of by yourself and your friends. BevelPix.com is a new online community for sharing such images. Visit to find a few inspiration, download 3D objects for printing and actually turn it into your own basic 3D image via only your mousepad.
