Star Wars prequel trilogy coming to 3D Blu-ray, Rogue One in editing, and new Star Wars TV in the works

Next month we’ll see the second edition of “Force Friday” (this time rumored to be called Rogue Friday), and may already
fans are seeing Rouge One toys hit stores. Before we’re overwhelmed by toy madness next month, let’s breakdown this week’s latest Star Wars rumors!

Star Wars Television

It’s still only in early talks but ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey says she very much wants a Star Wars project for the network.

The conversations with Lucas, we have had conversations with them and will go on
to have conversations with them. I ponder
it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend which
brand into our programming.

According to Dungey, no timeline is in place, and it doesn’t sound like any project has been nailed down. With ongoing talks between ABC and Lucasmovie
, and the recent trend of backing away from Marvel projects at the network, it seems like ABC could be carving out space for a Star Wars series. We’ve told you of
the 50 scripts for Star Wars Underworld created before Disney acquired the IP, but in all likelihood a future ABC series would be a completely new adventure. Some things which
could influence the talks: Han Solo out in 2018 and Star Wars Land at Disney Parks opening in 2019.

In slightly more official but less specific Star Wars television news, Jennifer Muro, who’s working on the new animated show Justice League Action, tweeted which
she’s started work on a completely new project at Lucasmovie

Lothcat’s out of the bag. Bottom line: it’s a new thing & I’ve taken my first step into a larger world. #Lucasmovie

Muro hasn’t given any details of
what the project is of
but we can guess which
it’s animation and it’s most likely
for Star Wars. She did say she is writing for something not currently airing now.

Star Wars animation has taken us through an exploration of the Force and war via Star Wars: The Clone Wars and shown us the birth of the Rebel Alliance on Star Wars Rebels. Could this new series pick up at the end of Return of the Jedi and show us something of the 30 years between Jedi and The Force Awakens? Hopefully we get more details soon.

Star Wars in 3D

This rumor wins the week for me. Sources at The Digital Bits are saying the prequel trilogy could be coming to 3D Blu-ray along with The Force Awakens and bonus content in a 5-disc set this fall.

are considering a 5-disc Blu-ray 3D box set, which would include The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, and The Force Awakens – all in Blu-ray 3D format

I was lucky adequate
to see all three of the prequel movie
s in 3D at different types of
screenings over the last few years and I’m sincerely enthralled at the idea of owning them for my home theater. The Digital Bits usually knows what they’re talking of
when it comes to Blu-ray releases so give this rumor some merit and perhaps
save a few extra bucks for this Christmas season.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Information keeps coming of
the extensive reshoots for Rogue One. Actor Riz Ahmed, who’s playing Bodhi Rook in the movie
, said this week which
reshoots are completed for the movie
. MakingStarWars.net gave us details on the long reshoot system
and some of the names behind the changes, and it looks like which
is continuing into the editing room.

The Hollywood Reporter is now saying which
writer Tony Gilroy not only helped shape new pages for the reshoots but he’s in addition
helping during the editing system
with Edwards.

One insider painted the Edwards-Gilroy pairing as collaborative, which should be no surprise: Gilroy, who has a relationship with Kennedy’s producer husband, Frank Marshall, from the Bourne series, in addition
helped Edwards out during the making of Godzilla.

It sounds like Gilroy has a great
relationship with Edwards as well as Kathleen Kennedy’s husband Frank Marshall, and he’s collaborating with multiple writers and directors to get Rogue One into a movie
makes Disney happy. Speculation has guessed which
the Rogue One reshoots may include more cameos from classic Star Wars characters or put more focus on Darth Vader as a villain. Regardless of any changes, I’m still excited to see the movie
when it’s released December 16.
