Over the last year or so, the 3D printing industry in China has grown at a dramatic rate, with printer sales expected to surpass those of the United States in 2016. One of the oldest and most successful 3D printing companies in the country has been Shining 3D, which has been a fixture in the industry since their founding in 2004. The company manufactures several 3D printers, but they’ve become incredibly well understandn for their EinScan line of handheld 3D scanners, which have been utilized globally for applications from archaeological preservation to special effects.
Last year at CES 2015, Shining 3D launched the EinScan-S, which was the newest iteration of their handheld scanners. The EinScan-S featured two scanning modes optimized for small and sizeable objects. This week at CES 2016, Shining 3D has introduced the EinScan-Pro, which goes two steps further with four scanning modes.
The newest version still showcases the automatic and free scan modes which turn it intod the EinScan-S so talked about . In automatic mode, a small object is placed on the scanner’s turntable, which fully scans the object inside a minute and a half. Free scan mode utilizes a tripod to capture sizeabler objects. Newly introduced are the handheld rapid scan and the handheld HD scan. Rapid scan operates at a speed of 10 frames per second, perfect for scanning people or statues. Handheld HD scan is additional detail-oriented, optimized for scanning intricate designs and carvings.
