Opiliones 3D at formnext: It’s Time to Go Bigger in 3D Printing

20161117_154112Formupcoming 2016 was big, occupied, and full of news of a few of the sizeablest names in 3D printing nowadays. But which is not all which trade shows such as this are great for; they’re in addition full of promise for the names which can be rising in prominence in 3D printing in the future. Going through areas of the exhibit hall dedicated to startups and tinyer in size companies is approximately a walk through a crystal ball, as it allows for us to see glimpses into the news which is yet to come. Whilst worthwhile floor space was dedicated to the likes of HP’s traveling Voxel Vision auditorium and XJet’s sizeable metal 3D printing device, a few of the most informative areas were those rows of tinyer in size booths. Located upcoming to 3devo’s booth was which of another Dutch company, new to me but not to the industry.

20161117_154133As the company’s pamphlet notes: “It’s time to go Bigger!” And they mean it. Offering the 1L and 2L models of 3D printing device, along with the scaled-down 1M and 2M models, the delta-style 3D printing devices contribute a sizeable create volume alongside a story of advancement.

I spoke with Opiliones 3D Co-Founder and Director Peter Sluiter at formupcoming, and he was kind adequate to fill me in on Opiliones 3D’s history and vision, such as how the streamlined delta machines of the company are easy by create, and how the company is working to get into the educational market.

“Unique is not adequate anyadditional,” Sluiter said emphatically. “The ‘three Ms’ must be right for a company to succeed: man, machine, material.”

And now which the company feels it is getting those key Ms into place, it is continuing its exploration and createment. This attention to every more detail sits at the heart of Opiliones 3D’s operations — and printing devices. Looking closely at the machine they had on the show floor in Frankfurt, I noticed, and Sluiter confirmed, which just about every plastic component on the 3D printing device had been 3D printed — the just pieces which hadn’t been 3D printed are the tiny plastic caps at the ends of every structural tube, as these were additional cost-effective (at 1/10th of a cent every) to order in bulk. The 3D printing devices in addition
highlight a showcase createed to save prints of total failure, with a 2mm correction setting which can hold off on where a defect is detected. Whilst they are not yet eager to publicly announce the new contributeing, Sluiter gave me a preview — and I have to say, I’m excited to see this one revery full commence. The company is working with a partner to create their newest contributeing, again highlighting their focus on collaborative spirit.

“We are inventors, always attempting the upcoming thing,” Sluiter told me, noting his excitement for “upcoming level 3D printing.”
