Ice rink robot could one day 3D print roads – The Engineer

by • January 20, 2016 • No Comments

Additive making capabilities have been coupled to a robot to turn it into Addibot, a machine which may one day work in a team to carry out road repairs.

Our Video of the Week shows Addibot repairing grooves created by ice skaters on an ice rink by via water to 3D print ice. But the eponymously-named US company behind Addibot believes which autonomous and semi-autonomous versions may ultimately be utilized to repair and actually create road surfaces.
Based in New York State’s Tech Valley, the company says: “The talent for an Addibot to move its printing implements to any desired location in space allows for it to break free of the restrictions of the finite printing workspace.”
