How to Make Cosplay Armor: Dreamer Regalia Armor for Felicia Day

by • January 12, 2016 • No Comments

We’re excited to announce a collaborative project between Shapeways, Lumecluster and Geek & Sundy‘s Felicia Day. The Dreamer Reagalia Armor, a 3D printed custom cosplay costume created
specifically for Actress Felicia Day. We’ve documented the creation of this dream project for community member Melissa Ng, the founder of Lumecluster and will be sharing, step by step how she created this beautiful piece. We’ll be releasing a new installment each week.

Melissa approached us with the concept to 3D print a full suit of fantasy armor for actress Felicia Day, who’s been in series such as Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and her own The Guild. Citing Felicia’s entrepreneurial spirit as an inspiration, Melissa reached out to ask if she may collaborate through Felicia’s gaming lifestyle brand Geek & Sundry. With Felicia onboard, Melissa needed help funding the printing of the full sized armor. Impressed by the scope of this project we agreed to print these 3D models as a test of a new program at Shapeways, the Shapeways Residency. We’ve worked closely with Melissa to document her design system
of conception through post system
ing and will be sharing a series of blogs and tutorials detailing how it got created
.

To begin
, check out Melissa on Shapeways live speaking with us of the project. Melissa goes into her inspiration and motives for this project in her blog post here.

Check back with us regularly to see the next part of this series.
