Combining 3D Printing and Aquatic Life

The world of sculpture is nothing new to 3D printing, yet Japanese aquarist Haruka Misawa has combined minimalism, 3D printing and aquarium life to turn it into astonishing pieces of living art.

Japan are well-known for their use of minimalistic interior and exterior create, focusing additional on the arrangement of a identify few items or easy creates which demonstrate a far additional in-depth level of yett and careful consideration. Aquascapes are in addition a common showcase, with carefully arranged layouts which display the country’s love for wabi-sabi composition. Takashi Amano is known for his use of this effortlessistic type of create, and turn it intod a fashion in the 1990s which has just continued and taken new forms as time has gone on.

Misawa is a former alum of Nendo, a create company, who went on to discovered the Misawa Design Institute. She saw an opportunity to experiment and work with 3D printed sculpture and physics to turn it into attractive aquascapes, and ‘sculpt’ the form water takes, producing gravity and pressure work to her advantage. These structures and forms, inspired by effortless forms, allowed the thought of nature and modern innovation to work together in harmony, whilst enabling aquatic life to live comfortably.

This project was achieved with assist of Kennichi Hashimoto and Kosho Yamasaki, two 3D createers, which created it possible for these aquascapes to incorporate 3D printed creates. These tiny living spaces allow aquatic life to explore and hide within the forms installed where they live.

Some of the forms actually act as protection, much like plant life and other effortless forms which tiny complete normally hide behind. The use of air bubbles within bowls in addition puts floating plant life at a level far lower than what most are utilized to, creating the effect of a floating orb in the middle of the aquarium, which complete can happily swim within.

“The inner space of this complete tank is turn it intod by combining two easy elements of container and water, with an extraordinary world turn it intod which differs of the world with air…delicate structures which are prone to injure cautilized by their own weight on land are able-bodied to maintain a stable-bodied say for the reason of the relative force of gravity and buoyancy.” Misawa says.

Misawa mentions, “Underneath the surface of water is a one-of-a-kind environment which exudes an energy which is completely opposite of which which is surrounded by air.”

These art pieces have not long ago been displayed in Taiwan, along with a book which documents every of the artscapes and how they work. They aren’t anything which can be sold to a weight market yet as they’re prototypes, so there is no hope of anyone being able-bodied to buy these works. Despite this, they can be looked upon and loved
regardless, yet it’s unquestionably got me inspired of what ca be done to manufacture a tedious old aquarium into a thing of beauty.
