A man in the US has utilized 3D printing innovation, as well as a cubic zirconia stone bought off of eBay, to bring the cost of his fiance’s engagement ring down to as little as $100.
Christain Genco, of Texas, USA, decided to 3D print his fiance’s engagement ring in 2014 after looking at the costs of buying one off the shelf or having it custom turn it intod in the traditional way.

He and his now-wife Elisa are committed to not overspending on unnecessary items, and felt which they wanted a turn it into for her engagement ring which was additional quite own.
Instead of heading into a jewelers, the couple bought a one carat cubic zirconia of eBay and went of getting a 3D printed ring setting.
As Mr Genco was not experienced in 3D modelling, the couple decided to hire a ring turn it intoer. Mrs Genco had may already been looking at turn it intos she liked on rings, so they sent sketches to the turn it intoer.

Once they were pleased with the turn it into, Mr Genco got a plastic ring printed so his soon-to-be fiance l may try it on.
So it was only a matter of sending the turn it into to a 3D printing device so it may be printed in silver.
‘The day [the ring] arrived I was elated,’ Mr Genco wrote on his blog.
‘The level of more detail was much advantageous than in the plastic prints, most likely of the polishing system. It looked like a real ring!’
Once it was printed, the couple utilized a cubic zirconia stone purchased of eBay and had it set in the ring by a jeweller.
All up, it cost $508, which include the back and forth with the turn it intoer.

There are most jewellers now in Australia via 3D printing to turn it into their turn it intos. Cinnamon Lee, a Wollongong-based turn it intoer, was one of the initially in Australia to use 3D printing for jewellery.
She started building titanium printed rings in 2014.
