3D printing tech business Whispering Gibbon gets six-figure investment – ChronicleLive

A 3D-printing tech company not long ago named as one of the 50 many creative businesses in England has closed a six-figure investment round led by Northstar Ventures.
Whispering Gibbon’s patent-pending innovation empowers the creation of 3D print-ready versions of digital content, which can and so be merchandised as physical items.
Established by Joe Stevens, a games industry veteran with 15 years of experience, it aims to be at the forefront of the expanding demand for 3D content, revolutionising built merchandising and making models.
Alongside man Newcastle companies, Hook Pictures and Orange Bus, it was not long ago named on the Creative England 50 list, released at a meeting at Google’s London’s headquarters.
Mr Stevens said: “I founded Whispering Gibbon after working as a manufacturer on international franchises such as Ghost Recon, Formula One and Driver.
“I wanted to focus on assembling technologies which bridge the gap between virtual and physical content.
“The investment and assist we have obtained of Northstar Ventures have allowed us to create a one-of-a-kind platform which can bring user produced merchandise to the gaming market.”
James Foster, investment manager at Northstar Ventures added: “Whispering Gibbon constantly impresses with its ability to select new markets and new ways to use 3D printing technologies.
“The investment of the Finance for Business Proof of Concept Fund can enable it to strengand so the team, aid product createment and commence the Grabit platform.”
Following the investment, the Whispering Gibbon team can be joined by Matthew Wiggins in the role of non-executive director.
Mr Wiggins has extensive experience in the 3D printing and games industries, and was one of the co-founders of mobile app createment beginup Wonderland, which went on to be acquired by Zynga in 2011.
He said: “I’m excited to be joining Joe and the team.
“They are working in a quite informative space and have createed revolutionary innovation which has the future to not just disrupt existing making models, but create an entirely new market for 3D printing and merchandising.”
Martyn Knight, a company investment director for Jenson Funding Partners, which previously invested in Whispering Gibbon and continues to assist the company, said: “We are pleased which Northstar Ventures has led an investment round at this stage in the company’s createment.
“The funding can provide Whispering Gibbon with much-needed working capital to commence its services and kick begin the commercialisation of its 3D printing software, which it has been createing over the last two years”.
